below are some pics from the weekend. you can see the difference in clothing from the weekend before at the zoo.
Ang's family bach is up on the ridge overlooking the beach the photos are taken on. The property goes right down to the beach but is all native bush/ pine trees with a small steep path. Eventually the plan is for Ang to design a beach house, in the meantime there is a converted garage which is fully lined and has a gas fridge and stove and solar lights. The girls love going down there as they get to sleep in the same room as us and it is like a big camping adventure.

It's winter
well winter seemed to arrive overnight...the girls have gone from shorts and T. shirts to winter woollies in the space of a weekend. On monday morning they both turned up in our bedroom with fluffy hats and mittens on with Harriet saying "I need a bath, my toes are cold".
We had our first fire of the winter tonight, as Ang would say I come from a long line of fire hogs. When my mum is around she has pride of place next to the fire and so did my grandfather. In our house it is me who gets the spot next to the fire, Bella has learnt to vacate it for me but tonight even Harriet said "mummy here is your place" as she moved from the no.1 spot. Sadly I had to leave the fire to ang to come to work at 8.30pm.
Tomorrow flannelette sheets go on all the beds and I will find the girls hot water bottles.
Despite the cold we had a fantastic Anzac weekend and I will post some pics in the next day or two of Harriet's traintrip with Rainbow Families and our overnight stay at Ang's bach.

What time is it?
this is Harriet's question of the week, why the girl needs to know what time it is I don't know, maybe she has some secret rendevouz planned I don't know about...anyway there is in fact only one way to answer this question as I have discovered. The time has to be something with a 3 in it because "I'm 3 you know". 3.o clock is best but 3 mins past or too the hour are also acceptable, any other time and I can't read the clock properly.

The girls this week
I t has been the last week of the 1st term so things have been rather hectic at our house. Ang has been at school till the small hours most nights finishing up her term project so it has just been the girls and I.
Saturday we went swimming at our local heated pool, despite having a great semi circular kids pool which Harriet can play in without having to be held she of course only wanted to be in the big Olympic sized pool where Isabella was swimming but it did mean she had a really good afternoon nap.
Harriet has been into 'matching things' this week
she has told us
5 and S match
1 & I match
and a 3 is kind of a match for a big B without a long bit.
She has started drawing people as round circles with stick arms and legs and much hair.
There has been a lot of threeness this week too, pushing all our buttons, annoying her sister for the heck of it and than saying cute things like
" I cried yesterday because I wanted my mamma because she is my friend and I love her and I didn't want her to go to school"
" I'm not afraid of bears, bears don't scare me because they are my friends but they might be scary bears to some people, the bears might be scary to you mummy"
Isabella got a certificate today for Maths for getting 199 out of 200 basic facts right in a test a few weeks ago. Infact her teacher told me at parent interviews that she was doing the basic facts at the same time as the class so she would have the answers and Isabella was beating her through them. At the interview Isabella had to write her goals for the next term, they were;
1. keep my tote tray tidy
2. get better at joining writing
3. try not to be so annoyed by other people in the class
She told me today that 1.&2. were going fine, 3. well that still required a little work as people could just be so sloooowwww at things.
She has enjoyed her first term of saxaphone and is looking to sign up for the netball team again next term....of course I am looking forward to more winter mornings on the side of the netball court trying to keep Harriet from running onto the court to join in.

Isabella's poetry
Isabella has been writing some poetry at school about the joys of having a 3yr old sister
Hopping about
Aloud she sings
Ranting on about everything
Reading nonsense all the time
It drives me nearly mad sometimes
Energetic all the same
Trouble is her middle name
She is a pukeko running very fast in the wrong direction
She is a red plum dripping juice all over the furniture
She is a ballerina dancing like never before
She is a howling monkey making unnecessary noise all the time
She is a broken record repeating everything over and over
She is a flower always blooming and forever gorgeous

my girls
I have decided to join the world of blogging to share a little more of what happens in the girls lives.
The title.... well anyone who knows the girls will understand.
Isabella's world revolves around Orca and Harriet's around Pukeko. Thanks to her uncle dee and sara she now has 3 more fabulous pukekos to add to the menargerie that come to bed each night, imaginatively named pukeko boy, pukeko girl, alice pukeko, baby pukeko, and little baby pukekos. Harriet now likes to be addressed by her full name Harriet Priya pukeko owl digger fire engine girl
