bOY MONdaY

the small people were pretty tired this morning after their big weekend, even Harriet had to be woken to go to school

so it was a quiet morning at home

and some baking

Billy has gotten very good at adding the eggs

but the best bit is the bowl

Billy thought we should take our cupcakes on a picnic so we checked out somewhere we usually look at from the bridge

The Chelsea Refinery Park

which has lakes with ducks and close up is orange even though it always looks pink from the bridge



we followed a little path

and found a spot looking out at the harbour for our picnic


the boys made great cupcakes


and had a great time running around


finding bits of treasure

climbing trees


and making a treasure hunt, Billy drew and hid all the clues and then raced Arlo to find each one first, decipher it and run for the treasure...luckily Arlo is happy to run along after Billy

and is happy if he gets his share of the treasure at the end

than there was a game of musical statues which Billy gets to win but Arlo is quite happy with as he just likes the dancing bit

we stopped on the way home to get a new sprinkler to deal with the afternoon heat

Billy was sure he needed his goggles on for running through the sprinkler

Weekend Roundup

It was a gloriously sunny weekend and filled with Parties and Parades for the small people
The cousins came for a Friday night sleepover

pancake breakfast at 9.30 and it was already hot


Harriet headed off to the Ukulele Festival with her classmates


Billy and I took Arlo for a walk and did some tree climbing

before getting ready for his little friend's Knight party

arriving on his trusty stead

and hanging out with his friend Esme

Arlo also had an afternoon Bug party with his little friends across the rd

his Halloween outfit making another appearance but it was too hot for black legs and arms

with the birthday kids who had ditched their costumes in the heat

Sunday saw Ang and Harriet taking part in the Santa Parade again

this year harriet and her friends were on the Monster Mash float and poor Ang had to do the Timewarp in the heat


and still gorgeous at 7pm in the garden playing with Isabella

Christmas Ornament Swap

The first of my ornaments from the swap arrived, I love the little doily.

Mine were sent out a week ago and have been blogged about by a couple of recipients so I'm guessing it's safe to post pics here.

I sent out envelopes sewn from thrifted books

inside were little packages

with these inside

the stockings were made from a piece of vintage linen with felt backs. I made little red french knots to go with the existing embroidery.

they were finished with ribbon and a little vintage button

looking forward to four more wee parcels in my letterbox
