bOy mOnDaY - MoMo AdVenTureS

After school drop off we went on a little adventure

Arlo's language has taken off in the last 3 weeks, he has gone from using a single word whenever possible to convey what he wants, to whole sentences.
I suggested we go to the park and Arlo said "Momo's come to the park too with Arlo". He is loving all his toy horses and still calling them all Momos.

He carried them all in a little backpack until they got a bit heavy and then he ran round exploring

We forgot bread for the ducks but did find them some Bagel crisps to feed them

We found a big rock installation and he lined all his horses up round a little puddle on it


so they could have a drink


next it was off to climb the big Pohutukawa

and find a very cool wand

to cast spells on the Momos


We walked up to the Wintergardens

to check out the fish pools

then he became fascinated with the statues

checking out all the details

the Momos checked them out too

and he compared knee owies with the statue

and was delighted to find toes on the little baby statue


before we headed to pick up Billy and Harriet

and have a yummy afternoon tea of frozen watermelon pieces Ang had made last night

perfect for eating while doing some reading homework

Crafty Goodness for Christchurch

Until I was 5yrs old we lived in a little cottage on Clifton Tce in Sumner

these pictures have Sumner beach in the background and me as a baby

This morning Clifton Tce and surrounding streets were completely evacuated after another aftershock, seems like it is never ending for the people of Christchurch as the death toll rises and more and more people become homeless.
There is some crafty goodness happening out there in terms of raising money for Christchurch.
These two are being run via Facebook and Trademe and feature lots of fabulous items.
Firstly Christchurch Earthquake appeal for Kids of Christchurch Kids Fashion Review, just log on to Facebook and 'like' their page then search for the albums, you can place a bid under the photos, this is running till Tuesday night.
Secondly Handmade for Christchurch also via Facebook, you can see the donations here than bid on them here on Trademe, they are slowly loading them up so you need to check back on this one.

When you are only two you can go through a whole range of emotions just crossing a bridge





and yes he was picked up for big cuddle just after this photo was snapped

What We Wore

Me to look at Butterflies with Arlo

Dress- I love this vintage Tiki Oasis style dress, it actually from an old dress from Fiji with Suva Tiki Souvenirs written on the label - found unworn at the Browns Bay Hospice shop

Shoes- finally I have found some Bata Bullets.

Isabella and I were discussing where she could get Retro sand shoes a few weeks ago, I said she needed some Bata Bullets remembering the ad from my childhood. I have never found them in an Oppy but we found her some via Trademe...than last week I walked into the St Vincents in Kingsland and the first thing I saw were these, in my size and beside another fabulous pair of Vintage shoes for $5 each. Both have the name 'Temm' written inside. Not sure who Temm is but loving their taste in shoes.

Thinking of Christchurch

Thinking of all those in Christchurch who have just suffered a second devastating Earthquake.
Isabella and I visited in 2009 as this is the city I was born in. The picture of her was taken at Sumner where we lived and the cliffs behind her which now look like this.

BoY MonDay

After school drop off Arlo and I headed to the library, where not surprisingly he picked books about

Horses...we have read this one numerous times today, in fact when Billy was trying to read his school book to me Arlo climbed onto my knee and placed this book on top of Billy's deeming it a far better read than Billy's

I would really have liked to take him to see some Horses and maybe a pony ride but the places close by were all closed on a Monday so we opted for some creatures of a different kind heading here instead

checking out the N.emo and D.ory fishes

before heading into the very steamy Butterfly House

where there were beautiful creatures sitting and flying everywhere

even on the pushchair

we checked out some 'snap snaps' ...BIG

and small

took a somewhat rainy walk around the rabbits, goats and sheep

than headed down for a little train ride

we had time for one last Butterfly House visit

and discovered if we sat very still they would land on Mummy

and even on Arlo

If you are wondering what the small boy is carrying round it is his other favourite present from yesterday...an old skool Whoopie Cushion which has been the source of much hilarity for him and Billy
