op shop books

we had a great op shop day on wed, sometimes you find clothes, sometimes crown lynn but this time it was books, which was just what we needed to make some more of these

Arlo's thankyou cards for all the wonderful gifts he has received. They are getting made in batches though so it is taking awhile to get them out if you are one of the lovely people who will be getting one

these for cards

these for display
and a blast from the past, the C.H.I.P.S annual with ponch and jon...brings back many a night sitting in PJs with Sarah and Hamish watching the boys in their tight pants

lastly a fabulous 1973 pattern and a great retro serving spoon just so it wasn't all books

and all for $1 or less each

small friends and some lounging

Arlo had a wee friend come visit today, I had made a wee pair of lounge pants and a singlet as our new baby gift to her (she has been in hospital for a few months).

She tried them on for fit and we snapped these very cute pics of the two of them.

Some Recent Finds

these great retro pants which are becoming shorts for both Isabella and Billy

two 70's books

one I'm going to be using to make thankyou cards for Arlo

and one with some cute craft

plus I especially like the tip it has for making your family help in the kitchen...I'm sure we can rustle up some gay aprons,..... and what could be gayer than rough denim or practical pvc?

a great jug

and a cake stand as Ang is making it her mission to try every recipe in Ladies a Plate so we need suitable serving wear

and some cake tins to aid in this mission too

One month Old

Arlo was a month old yesterday and has gained a kg in weight and grown 4cm since he was born. His little cheeks and legs are filling out. He is starting to enjoy things like sitting in the bouncer and lying under the play gym but mostly just likes to be cuddled by his family.

The hottest weather in 137yrs...

over the last week has meant nobody has been sleeping well, especially Arlo and we have all been hot, tired and a little grumpy. Luckily there are some good pools in the city and we headed to one the other night for a picnic tea and to cool off. Both Harriet and Billy spent an hour or two going down the slide repeatedly.

It's just too hot.....

When a 3yr old gets to choose what the cake looks like....

his daddy gets a chocolate cake with pink icing and 4 blue candles. Billy had to help make and ice the cake and came on a special outing to get pink food colouring and choose the exacxt 4 blue candles he wanted.

Weekend Away

We had a fabulous weekend away on the Awhitu penninsular with our friends Jo and Karen and their smalls and Sarah, Sila and the boys.
There was ..
lots of swimming at different beaches

picnics on the beach

swinging

lots of sunshine

lots of cups of tea and home baking
the construction of a very eeyore like bush hut

a walk out to an island at low tide

more swimming and swinging

games of scrabble
two boys playing at harry potter and ron weasley

beach walks
<

a small boy who had lots of bigger boys to play fire rescue with him

adults trying to get a quiet moment to read (there were 3 different Cullen books on the go)

and not always suceeding

3 big girls for the smaller girls to follow round/bug for attention

a very gorgeous baby who got cuddled all weekend

and the perfect kiwi end to the weekend--takeaways straight from the newspaper on the beach

but just incase it seems all too idyllic there were also over excited children who went to sleep after half ten the first night and had grumpy whines the next day, squabbles over whose turn it was on the swing till ang stuck all their names on the clock at five minute intervals, cries of it's not fair, or so and so did ..., but really I think they all had a fabulous time and I did manage to finish book 3 and start book 4 of twilight
