Not our proudest moment

Billy said his first longer sentence last night, and while we were very pleased with the way he constructed it, the content...not so great...but we are laying the blame squarely at Ang's feet as it was said in the exact tone and intonation she uses...he had crawled under a chair trying to get his sister's felt pens and next thing we hear as Isabella walks by

'Ella I'm stuck...oh shit..mama cuddle I stuck"

We have suspected he has been uttering these words for a few weeks now but Ang has assurred us he is saying 'ah choo' or 'open shut' but quite clearly last night that was not what he was saying but I guess we have to give him points for using the phrase in a suitable context.

Isabella is a fantastic student. She is able to think critically and independently and achieves academic results at the highest level. She communicates her ideas and opinions with confidence and thoughtful consideration for her audience. Isabella is a leader amongst her peers and has made a real difference to our class and school, such as when she organised the school wide fundraising day to save whales. Isabella has a great sense of humour and is a pleasure to teach.

Catching up on 2 weeks..

the last two weeks saw the dreaded bugs visit our place. The last friday of term harriet went to an ENT appointment to see if her adenoids and tonsils needed removing (they do and we are on the waiting list) and the temperature she had thursday night turned into a throat bad enough to need a week of antibiotics, saturday night billy had the same high temp and they were both miserable for the next week. Ang and I got a milder form of the bug so the first week of the school hols was not great, when you feel sick yourself two small limpets who both want to be on you at all times is not condusive to sanity...lets just say we watched alot of DVDs. Isabella was sensible enough to escape on holiday with a school friend before the bugs got to her but sadly a week later they ventured over the bridge to gran's house.

Billy is definately a fully fledged toddler now and having mastered walking is working on the talking. He is putting a few words together and has alot to say on many subjects, even if you don't get the words you get the general meaning. When he wakes up now and is still in his safety sleep we hear the words 'stuck, I'm stuck' coming from the cot. He has two small obsessions, shoes and boots and D.O.R.A. Apparently Hi5 are so last week and only the small spanish girl and her monkey companion can be on the DVD. He wakes up at 3am and requests D.O.R.A from his cot..you can imagine how this request is greeted. His idea of heaven would be a TV station that played all D.O.R.A all the time but he is very cute yelling out 'map' and 'backpack' and doing his own version of the 'we did it' dance. He will take anyones shoes and try them on and is especially enamoured of his new gumboots from gran and his sisters Bratz slippers. Sometimes Harriet has to stop him pulling them off her feet.

The week wasn't all bad though ,he got to try his first icecream as his sore throat has meant he has hardly been eating.

Miss harriet has loved her first term at school, she is reading and spelling a large number of words and was moved up to the next class when her class was split in two at the end of the term. The highlight for her was the end of term disco which Isabella, Billy, Leon and I went to as well, it was all a bit of madness but the kids had a fantastic time especially with the flashing light balls.they got to wear around their necks. When I got up in the night it was still flashing from beneath her covers.

She too has had some fun holiday times with her little girlfriends over for a 'pink party' sleepover and her cousins for a sleepover and a trip to the museum.

Miss Isabella had a great term too, the Ponsonby team came third in the National final of the literature quiz, she got a great report and she won the part of Miss darbis in the schools production of high school musical so she will be rehearsing all next term.
