In the Neighbourhood

It's been a weekend of hanging out with friends and neighbours.
When we first moved here nearly 11yrs ago Isabella was the only small person in the street, but the last few years more and more families have moved in and there are now enough kids to hang out together at each others houses and on the street which the small people and the big people are loving..

we had some helpers on Saturday to decorate our front porch ready for the trick or treaters

and did some late afternoon sitting on the grass verge

and street decorating with the neighbours

Halloween cupcakes were iced and decorated




and Billy took his down to share around

which went very nicely with the beer the parents were having in the sun

Sunday we checked out Kraftbomb, Harriet and I went to the Diwali Festival, Billy went visiting his little friend Harry, Isabella studied and Ang baked with Arlo ....until it was time for
Trick or Treating

Ang headed out with the small people and our neighbours

while I stayed home to give out lollies

Today Harriet celebrated Diwali with her Indiance school

practising her dance moves at home

Halloween Parties

This afternoon the small people had Halloween events to attend

Harriet as Dorothy,

the pinafore was Isabella's 6yrs ago so I just made a new white underdress

and the ruby red slippers were a last minute afterschool dash as we could only find one of the shoes Isabella had worn even though I was sure I had two of them

Arlo is very keen on Creepy Crawlies so he got a little spider costume

I used a vintage romper pattern cut from black satin for the front and a crushed velvet for the back.

The little hat has 8 googly button eyes sewn on

which he liked...but not so much on his head all the time

the back was finished with a red felt cross.

He looked super cute but it's hard to get good photos of a constantly fast moving small spider

Billy, inspired by Sarah and Sila's outfits a few weeks ago, was a Vampire

complete with false teeth and amazing face paint by his Mama

His 70's polyester Maroon suit was the starting point for his costume as I wanted him looking old school Vamp

I matched the colour to a velvet for lining the cape and used the same satin as Arlo's costume for the outer cape.

The hardest bit of his costume was finding a white shirt in the Oppy, this one was a little big but the cuffs looked great

I think you'll have to agree, he is the sort of boy who can rock a 70's maroon 2 piece ensemble especially with a pair of cons and a cape
