Billy's 2nd birthday
Billy had a great birthday, he had a party in the park, there were a few rain drops but that didn't seem to bother any of the kids, just stress the mums out a little. He was so happy to see his friends and have party food, he was running round saying 'party, party' and since friday has yelled party at a number of other gatherings including xmas today. I figure his life has pretty much been one big party this last week. The pics are his birthday morning, his party and some from the next day enjoying his gifts, a ride in car from us, a table and chairs from the grans and his trike from his dad.

We interrupt the 12 days of xmas to bring you this week...
Isabella finished school, gave the prize giving speech, won the top science prize and a school service award, and graduated the next night. Somewhere in the last few months she has grown from a little girl into a young woman. She and her friends all looked stunning at their graduation.
Harriet also finished her first year at school. She starred as chicken licken in a play her class put on for fiafia day last saturday and got an awesome first report. She is excited to be moving up a class next year.
Billy turned two today. I can't believe my baby is that old. He had such a fun day running round saying party party. All his friends and whanau joined him in the park for a picnic tea, slideshow to come but here are some pics of the birthday boy.
Tomorrow we return to xmas preparations.

On the first day of Christmas.....

each year the kids get to pick a new decoration for the tree, my theory is by the time they leave home they will each have a box of decorations to take with them. Isabella picked a dove that looked like the greenpeace dove, harriet a glittery star that resembles one of her bollywood earrings and billy...well we thought he might pick a star or a train...no he picked a santa, he has no real idea who santa is so we were a little puzzled till he pointed out to us 'look shoes, shoes, look his shoes'. Santa has not just shoes but high heeled black boots and combined with his flared santa coat he really is rather camp.

Fashion conscious
as I have mentioned before Billy is very particular about his clothes and in particular his shoes.
some examples
*if I don't put shoes on him in the morning he goes to his wardrobe waits for you to open it, greets his shoes longingly than selects a pair
*if you change his outfit but leave the same shoes on he will go to his wardrobe and select another pair, these invariably match better than the ones he has on
*he takes all his dirty clothes to the laundry hamper
* if you leave your shoes or clothes lying around he will take them to his hamper too
*if you go to get him out of his carseat he will say 'need hat, need shoes'
*I got his sisters Bratz dolls out today as she is going to sell them, when he saw the shoes he did a happy dance saying 'oh look shoes, dolls with shoes' he than proceeded to take all the shoes and dolls and happily play with them
* in the last few days he has started asking to choose his pajamas and he is very specific about which pair
*he often comes up to me during the day to show me his top
we were wondering if prehaps he had inherited some special accessorisng and fashion gene but than leon brought over his chinese horoscope books. Under the saggitarian rooster it says

Happy Diwali

Science Fair Gold Prize Winner
Once again I have my very proud mother smile on.
Isabella competed in the Auckland science fair this week. At prize giving tonight she won third prize in the yr 7&8 Planet Earth and Beyond category than she won the NIWA GOLD Prize for best exhibit in Atmospheric and Water Science. This came with a cash prize and even more exciting a summer internship at NIWA although as she is only 12yrs and the youngest of the Gold prize winners (the other 2 were high school students) they have to work out how she can do it. She is also nominated for the Realise the Dream week long event in Wellington in Dec.
We are very proud of her. Her project was on water quality in Te Kuiti and sampling of a polluted river which supplies the towns water.
