miss harriet too who got her first award at school this week, it has been a week of proud mother smiles

CONGRATULATIONS

to Isabella and her Ponsonby B team mates who won their heat of the Kids Literature Quiz last night http://www.kidslitquiz.com/. They will go on to compete on sun 10th of june in the New Zealand final and are hoping they might make it to Oxford England in July.

Not only did they win but they got the highest score ever in the history of the quiz 96/100, so you can imagine how big the proud smiles were on gran, barb and my faces afterwards.

cloth nappies

here are some pics of billy in his first cloth nappy, I had been reading alot about newer cloth nappies as opposed to the system I tried with Isabella that were so bulky I couldn't get her clothes over the top and as he often needs a clean nappy in the late afternoon I thought it would be the perfect time to try. I actually really like it, it feels lovely, looks great and is easy to clean. I will probably get another one or two and try doing my bit for the environment all be it a little late at 16 months. For those of you in the know it is sewn up with a hidden soaker constructed of 3 layers of Hemp Fleece and 1 layer of Burley Knit Terry sandwiched inside the nappy and backed with PUL and lined with white microfleece. It has a snap in hemp liner also.

Anzac Day

on anzac day we headed over to the grans with some homemade anzac biscuits the small people had made, some pics below from the mini sports tournament gran conducted in the back garden

Whaleathon

we are so proud of Miss Isabella who organised a whaleathon at her school to raise funds and awareness for greenpeace's whale campaign. She came up with a number of ideas, guess the lollies in the jar (thanks leiana for the big bag of lollies), origami whale folding and dodgeball against the teachers. She raised over $100 for greenpeace in one lunchtime and did all the promoting and organising herself. The school recognised her with a gold award and we are so impressed with her efforts.
